Years ago, I began creating cards using my inordinate collection of scrapbook paper, a few embossing folders, stamps on hand, markers, die cuts, and even my Cricut for cutting words and sentiments. While I made a lot of cards, I realized I really wasn’t using them. Then, several years ago I had an idea to help my grandson raise funds for Skateboarding Summer Camp. I crafted 100 sets of 5 cards, bundled them, and sent them for him to sell at his school. Within a week, he sold all of them and raised the money needed for summer camp. However, making all of those cards burnt me out and I haven’t made any since.
Recently, I’ve felt a renewed passion to explore new paper crafting techniques. I aim to inspire others with my love for designing, coloring, cutting, creating and assembling cards. While scrapbooking is my creative outlet, I want to create something new. Thanks to the COVID lockdown and other life circumstances, I discovered scrapbookers on YouTube, including Close To My Heart Makers and Creative Memories Advisors. I think I subscribed to probably 15 channels and I was mesmerized by some of the most creative ladies. They showed how to do ink color blending with alcohol markers, ink stamping & layering techniques, and embellishing their pages like artist. I began trying some of those techniques and just fell in love with the process.
I expanded my tools and accessories collection through Close To My Heart, Creative Memories and Facebook scrapbooker’s garage buy and sell pages. And just about the time I really started investing in ink and tools Close To My Heart announced they were closing their doors after 40 years. Some of the makers were devastated and I believe it rocked the scrapbooking world for a bit. At least for me, I was a bit disappointed because I had just discovered them a few years before. Many CTMH makers chose to transition to a company called Stampin’ Up who welcomed them with open arms. The company came to an agreement with CTMH to sell some of their product that was planned for launch over the summer. Witnessing the makers share their enthusiasm for a new chapter with fresh new products inspired me.
Sooo, I decided to join Stampin’ Up! as a Demonstrator to spread my passion for paper, patterns, and colors with others. I have a lot to learn but hey, we can learn together. Stay tuned for more information about my new endeavor!
